Mrs. Miracle By: Debbie Macomber

Seth Webster has gone through more nannies in the past year then many go through in a lifetime. His two energetic twin boys deem a handful for just about anyone, and as the holidays approach Seth needs nothing short of a miracle. Mrs. Merkle comes into their life, and she's nothing short of just that "A Miracle". The kids love her and good luck starts coming Seths way, including a travel agent named Reba, who's gone through a tragedy as tragic as Seths and they find comfort in each other's company during this holiday season.

Usually if I know a movie is based off a book, I ALWAYS read the book first, but Mrs. Miracle was on the Hallmark channel one day during the holidays, and it looked really cute and I was in the mood for a holiday movie, so i watched it, and realized that I had this book on my shelves already!! I loved the movie, i found its simplicity to be enjoyable and it was a really heartwarming and "feel good" holiday movie.

I figured I would read the book right after and in the beginning I thought it was going to be exactally the same as the movie, but it started to stray into different relationship dynamics that weren't even touched on in the movie, that i didn't like, for example Seth's twins living with his inlaws for four years after his wifes accident, and also their marital problems. I felt like it took away from the simple storyline that i loved in the movie!!

This book is a cute, holiday read, and I did enjoy it, just not as much as the movie unfortantually.

Keeping Time by: Stacey McGlynn

This story is of Daisy Phillips an older women who dosn't want to be just an "old lady" to everyone, her friends and family included. The people closest to her in her life are the same people forcing her into making huge changes in her life. While a personal decision to travel to the United States brings about the biggest changes on all.


This novel has a quirky humor to it, and while it was a really quick, heart-warming story, i felt it moved a little slow and that there wasn't enough to really keep me enthralled in the novel. The characters were easy to like and i liked the unique-ness that they each brought to the story. The plot itself had some really good message as well, that you only life once, that lifes too short to not do what's important for you, and also doing what makes your happy for you and nobody else.

Overall. this was worth picking up and reading, i just don't feel its a book you need to run right out and buy. This is Stacey McGlynns' Debut Novel and i look forward to seeing what else she has in store for us

North of Beautiful By: Justina Chen Headley

Terra Cooper has all the makings of what society calls a "beautiful" girl, she's tall, blonde, skinny, and has an awesome body. If it wasn't for the Port Wine stain that consumes half her face she would be perfect. Until Terra meets Jacob a goth boy who she's believes is anything but her type. Jacob takes her on an adventure that changes her views on life, what the true meaning of beauty is, and so much more.

This book is extraordinary, it really shakes you and opens your eyes to what true beauty is, and how society loses sight of that on a constant basis. It was fresh, and witty, and i loved every minute of this book.

The characters were all unique and i liked all of them. They all played an important role in the unfolding of the story, and i can see why she made the characters the way they were. Although some of them were annoying, or pompous, i understand there was a reasoning behind it that made sense within the storyline.

The plot was fast paced, and i wasn't bored, i liked the constant change of scenery and the storyline kept me interested. I also loved the concept of the caches (which was something i've never heard of prior to this novel) but i felt that gave the story another layer that really added to it's uniqueness!

Anna and the French Kiss by: Stephanie Perkins

Anna and the French Kiss was just as spectacular as everyone says it is! What a way to start off 2011. I stayed up pretty much all night one night reading this book because i simply couldn't put it down!!! Etienne St. Clair made my heart melt and i honestly can say i think i've experienced my first literary crush!


Anna is sent off to a boarding school in Paris, and while she is hesistant and not wanting to leave her school back home, her best friend Bridge, and her new boy toy Toph, her parents insist that she needs to go abroad. She immedietly is thrown into a new culture and you follow her journeys and struggles through a different culture. Her life back home moves fast ahead without her, and her friends back home change just as quickly as she is changing abroad.

I cannot say enough good things about this book, it could have been predictable and subpar with the storyline, but Stephanie Perkins takes you right along side Anna and her Journey and leaves you at the edge of seat watching her love and life in Paris unfold.

Witch Child By: Celia Rees

This book is based on the diaries of Mary Newberry that escapes the witch-hunts in England to come settle into America, and her struggles and fears.


This book sounded so interesting as the stories of the salem witch trials and witch-hunts always intrigued me, but this story didn't do it for me. The beginning with the death of her grandmother that was thought to be a witch, i thought it was going to lead into so much more, but it was more about her travels to America from England, then her struggles on people thinking she was a witch, in fact i didn't even feel i was reading a story based on "witch" at all. There wasn't anything really supporting that focus and it left me dissapointed, I would still like to read the second novel "The Sorceress" to see where she goes with the story, but after reading this im not expecting anything more then medicore.

The Road By: Cormac McCarthy

I really really wanted to like this book, but i found that i was dissapointed. After reading "No Country for Old Men", i had high expectations and i felt let down. I needed time after reading this to really think about how i wanted to rate it and what i wanted to say in the review. I honestly felt like it missed out on a lot of key elements for me, particurally the beginning and the ending i felt were really weak. What led to this whole postapocalyptic world and what caused humans to be dangerous and eat other human beings. Also the ending didn't satisfy what happened to the boy, his father passed away, but what the heck happened to him?? did he make it or didn't he? I just really thought this book would be more then it was, and left me dissapointed.
